🧮 Calculate Trade Profit & Loss

What is a Stock Profit Calculator?

It settles the basic bookkeeping of a share trade: what you paid, what you received, and the difference between the two in both cash and percentage terms. Enter your share count, the price you bought at, the price you sold at, and a flat fee if you want to fold commissions into the maths, and it returns your total cost, total proceeds, net profit or loss, and return on cost.

It's handy for reviewing a closed trade or sizing up a hypothetical one, but it's pure arithmetic on the numbers you supply — it doesn't include taxes, slippage, or tiered fees, and it is not a recommendation to buy or sell anything.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How is stock profit calculated?

Total cost is the number of shares times the buy price, plus any fee on the purchase. Total proceeds is the shares times the sell price, minus any fee on the sale. Profit is proceeds minus cost, and the percentage return divides that profit by the total cost. It's plain arithmetic on the figures you enter.

Does it include brokerage fees and taxes?

You can enter a flat fee per trade, which is added to your cost and subtracted from your proceeds. It does not model tiered commissions, exchange fees, currency conversion, or capital-gains tax, so your real net result may differ. Check your broker's contract note for exact figures.

Can it show a loss?

Yes. If the sell price (after fees) is below your cost, the profit figure is negative and the percentage return is negative too, showing the size of the loss on that trade.

Is this financial advice?

No. This calculator is for educational and informational purposes only and does not recommend buying or selling any security. Trading involves substantial risk of loss; consult a licensed financial advisor before making decisions.
